Khoa Le, a master’s student and teaching assistant at the University of Georgia School of Computing, embodies the school’s commitment to innovation and community. Attracted by UGA’s robust research programs and accessible faculty, Le has discovered an ideal setting to nurture his enthusiasm for computer science and education.

Le credits Hamid Arabnia, professor emeritus in the School of Computing, for shaping his understanding of computer science’s core principles. “He taught me the essence of the field,” Le said, describing Arabnia as the best educator he’s encountered. This mentorship has fueled Le’s academic journey, particularly in courses like Computer Graphics, Web Programming, and Cloud Computing, which he ranks as his favorites.

Beyond the classroom, Le is an active member of UGA’s Badminton Club and Vietnamese Student Association. These communities have connected him with like-minded peers, many of whom are fellow computer science majors, creating a tight-knit network for studying and collaboration. “I’ve met great people who share my interests,” he said, highlighting the value of these connections in enriching his UGA experience.

As a teaching assistant, Le’s passion for helping others shines. Inspired by his own transformative experiences with TAs as an undergraduate, he finds joy in guiding students to their “aha” moments when complex concepts click. “Witnessing students solve problems is incredibly rewarding,” he said. For aspiring TAs, Le advises: cultivate a genuine desire to help and master the art of explaining concepts clearly. “It’s not just about understanding—it’s about making it understandable for others,” he emphasized.

Reflecting on his time at UGA, Le describes the School of Computing as a vibrant, supportive community. “It’s amazing,” he said. “The professors are approachable, and there are endless opportunities to grow through research, clubs, and events.” His enthusiasm is a testament to the dynamic environment at Franklin, where students are empowered to learn, lead, and inspire.

Khoa Le’s journey with UGA’s School of Computing showcases inspiring commitment to fostering intellectual curiosity and community. As he continues his master’s degree and teaching, he’s not just shaping his own future—he’s inspiring the next generation of computer scientists to dream big and dive deep.
