In 1984, the Computer Science Department at UGA was established with 8 faculty and an undergraduate program. Shortly thereafter, the MAMS degree was added, and in 1987 the MS in CS was approved. The PhD program in CS was approved in 1993 and began in 1995.
We have now grown to include 36 faculty members, 182 enrolled graduate students, and 1282 undergraduate majors, and to serve thousands of non-major undergraduates.
We offer B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science, an MS in Cybersecurity and Privacy, and our graduates have gone on to prestigious positions in academia, industry, and at private and federal research labs.
On July 01, 2022, the Computer Science Department has been elevated to a School of Computing.
